One of my favorite meridians to use as the main focus of the treatment is the Leg ShaoYang channel. This channel can be used to treat a diverse number of ailments, ranging from physical pain to emotional disorders. The channel runs from the right corner of the eye all the way don to the lateral aspect of the fourth toe. This, itself, should signal to you how this channel could be used to treat many areas of the body.
Regarding physical ailments, the Leg ShaoYang channel is widely used by TCM practitioners to treat issues that deal with upper back/neck pain. I have used this channel many times to effectively treat these areas. In this blog, I will explain to you how I manipulate this channel by my point selection. Trust me, this is a very interesting topic I will discuss thoroughly in the future.
I just want you to appreciate the general areas this channel is used to treat for pain disorders. Now, I don’t want to leave you the impression that the upper back region is the only area I have used the Leg ShaoYang meridian for, as far as pain. Again, this meridian runs from the eye to the fourth toe. The way I have been trained in treating pain, I have used various location along this channel to help treat various body areas.
For instance, I use the Leg ShaoYang points located in the ankle/foot to treat finger or upper forearm pain. I often use this channel in a supplementary role. That is, I often use another meridian as the main source for treatment and use a couple of points along the Leg ShaoYang to supplement the healing effects of the main channel being used.
Usually, all the meridians I use to treat a specific area of pain are in some way related such as having an interior/exterior relationship. I am continually awed by range of the Leg ShaoYang meridian in treating a variety of ailments.
